At the midpoint of the year, we’d like to look back at one of the projects that began at the start of 2026 and is still running at full capacity today.
At the end of December 2025, VHC, working together with manufacturer Plasser & Theurer, handed over a fully refurbished 08-275 ZW tamping machine to Firesta. The machine underwent a complete retrofit at the Life Cycle Services Competence Centre in Linz, where it received modern technological equipment while retaining its proven design. The result is greater reliability and a significantly extended service life for the machine.
As a certified Plasser & Theurer partner, VHC accompanied the order from the outset — from support during the sales phase through to arranging long-term servicing. The retrofit of the 08-275 ZW machine has been successfully carried out in this form since 2023.
Since spring 2026, the tamping machine has been working at full capacity on track maintenance near Hodonín, and it has remained in operation through the summer. In mid-June it was also spotted in Prague’s Vinohrady district, tamping the tram track for the Prague Public Transit Company. For Firesta, the machine is helping maintain track infrastructure quality across multiple projects. The project confirms the strength of the Life Cycle Service organization’s cooperation with international partners — from consulting through implementation to long-term service support.
